Depression Connection Support Group
Gain Understanding, Help and Hope
When suffering from depression/ bipolar or a related disorder, learn what helps and what hurts. Our Depression Connection support group meets Tuesdays in the Sanctuary at the Heritage Campus, 7:00-8:30 PM. The group is structured to include approximately ten individuals and a licensed, trained facilitator. In addition to an opportunity to communicate about one’s individual concerns, an educational component is included in each meeting. Research confirms that people who participate in regular support groups often experience a better quality of life and a greater likelihood of recovery from the symptoms of depression, anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder. Questions? Contact Katherine Hunter at 817-481-2559 x 130 or katherineh@fumcg.org.

History
The Heritage congregation, established as Minter’s Chapel in the early 1850’s, is the oldest Methodist-roots congregation in Tarrant County, and has a rich tradition of worship and service in the Grapevine area.
Minter's Chapel Methodist Church was founded in 1854 by Rev. Green Minter, a circuit rider and early settler in Tarrant and Dallas Counties. He was aided by Rev. Nathan Hudgins, a Methodist minister of Birdville, in preaching to persons of all faiths worshiping together in the first quaint building fashioned of hand-hewn logs. This building also served the community as a school and meeting place. The church and its adjoining cemetery, which has continued to be maintained since the founding of the congregation, occupy land donated by James Cate, who with his wife was among the charter members of the congregation.
When the Minter's Chapel property was enveloped by DFW airport in 1967, Minter's Chapel Methodist Church was relocated to Grapevine, Texas at 4344 Heritage Ave. It was later renamed Heritage United Methodist Church. In October 2009, Heritage merged with First United Methodist Church.
The cemetery is located on the west side of DFW Airport. From Euless or Arlington, take State Highway 360 north to Mid-Cities Blvd and take a right toward the airport. Turn left onto Airfield Dr. which is at about the third stoplight. There is a sign for the cemetery before you get to the stoplight where you will turn left again. Just before you get to this stoplight, you will be able to see the cemetery on the hill to the left. After you turn to the left take an immediate right. Click here for their website.
